Sig Sauer SRD556 QD Suppressor Review

The Sig Sauer SRD556-QD is a durable, full-auto rated, stainless steel suppressor featuring their Fast-Attach quick detach mount. The Sig silencer is instantly recognizable due to its unique design elements.

Full disclosure.  I own a number of Sig Sauer pistols. This was my first opportunity to run one of their suppressors so I was happy to get it in my hands.  Range testing was done with my custom built 5.56 utilizing a Ballistic Advantage 14.5″ barrel.  Ammo was a variety of PMC and Georgia Arms.

First impressions are that it is a heavy-duty can that will stand up to lots of abuse.

At the range, the Sig Sauer SRD556-QD was a pleasure to shoot. The Fast-Attach system was easy and fast in the field. There aren’t any tricks to the Sig Fast-Attach – just slam the can on and twist until snug. You can feel a subtle tactile snap when it locks in place (and if quiet enough you can hear the click).  To remove, press the release and unscrew.  There are wrench flats on the mount to help separate the suppressor from the mount while using your Silencer Shop mitt.

There is some First Round Pop but then the silencer settles down into a nice mellow sound.  It doesn’t appear that Sig Sauer publishes decibel readings for this model and I don’t have a pro db meter (note to self: fix that) but initial impressions are that it is hearing safe at least for short bursts.  You will certainly be pleased with the sound signature.
