This evening I will go over the RRA Entry Tactical m4 carbine in 5.56 cal. I bought this rifle in Oct of 2004. I have used the hell out of it. I don’t even know how many rounds but roughly 4 cases downrange without a single malfunction while I fired it.

Funny story I took this exotic dancer friend of mine out to shoot. She had a full mag and I swear it jammed every round for like 17 rounds, I took it back and fired the other 13 no problem. I gave it back to her with a fresh mag and it started again, I finished the mag, no problems. I have no explanation for that, my rifle just hated her. She said that too. She wasn’t doing anything wrong, I will never know what the deal was. Her shoulder and position were solid, weird. Anyway, so she’s got a flawless record with me anyway. I also want to point out I have never in roughly 4000 rounds cleaned that rifle, never, its my “beater” rifle. Occasionally I will spray it out with carb cleaner and re-oil, that’s it. I think I’ve only done that maybe twice, so my lack of care for this poor girl is a testament to RRA and how good their rifles are.

My setup is how I was set up in the sandbox. I brought my sight and all my stuff back and put it on this rifle. So I have a set of flip up iron sites in the rear. An EoTech 552 holosight. A Command Arms forward vertical grip on a Surefire quad-rail. On the right is a Surefire 951 weapon light and a green laser on the bottom rail forward of the grip. A 3 point sling. I forget the brand now but a good one. There is a single mag pouch on the butt stock. I use mag clamps so you will usually see her with 2 thirty’s in the magwell.

This girl has been a solid shooter. I use 62 grain XTAC PMC ammo, groups are always small and the 62 grain bullet is steel core which I like. Good penetration. I have done all kinds of shooting from action courses to slow fire prone. If you put the EoTech on the target your going to hit it. Period. The 2 stage trigger is great and the EoTech is an awesome sight. Never lost a zero and will remount within a minute or so of where it was. The battery life is pretty long and it will shut itself off in 8 hours if you forget. This sight has been dropped, banged, thrown and blown up…yes..blown up and was still going strong. After all that it started acting up  and batteries were dying FAST. Eotech is in Ann Arbor MI. so we took it over to them and asked them to fix it, after 5 years of me owning it and 27 months in combat use it had, I don’t expect them to do it for free, I planned on paying. Well they just replaced the whole guts to the thing and my metal hood cause it was all banged and scratched up for FREE. WOW! Thank you EoTech! So essentially they gave me a brand new scope, who can complain here?? What a great bunch of people! I always have thought EoTech was my first best choice in weapon sights. After this I am a customer for life and have several more of them now.

Moving on to the other accessories: The Surefire quad-rail has been solid through everything. Again all this stuff has 27 months of hard, real world combat use in the desert. The quad-rail for the 130$ it cost has been a gem. I can say as much for the Surefire 951 as I can the EoTech. This thing looks like hell its so banged up. Never tho has it failed me in anyway. It was a battery killer though and I switched to an LED module and I have enjoyed longer run-times and brighter light because of it. I bought a Cree bulb and it has been awesome. Like 8 bucks and ridiculously bright. I tried to break it as its a Chinese bulb and I wasn’t sure if it was tough, it is. You can get them on eBay for 8-15$ depending on your lumen’s. You can get 250, 320 and 450 lumen that I know of. I’ve got them all and never managed to break one. The green laser I bought myself and its VERY bright, a tad bit cold weather touchy sometimes, if its freezing sometimes it doesn’t want to work. For the most part its been fine.

Summary: Well the DEA bought RRA’s, along with a lot of other people and organizations. Superior rifles at a good price. I have 4 of them now and love them all. (the others are clean:) You can use them for match, hunting, home-defense , law enf. or just plain old fun. Whatever your need I can’t see a Rock River letting you down. Accessorize with good stuff like I did and your experience can only improve. I heard it said m4’s are like Barbie dolls for men, you can dress them about 10 million ways, that’s true. If you start with a Rock and add good stuff to enhance your rifle I don’t think you can go wrong.

Thanks for reading an happy shooting
