Overlooked by many, Magpul’s BAD Lever is an upgrade that many have been looking for on their AR platform. It allows the shooter to release the bolt and lock the bolt to-the-rear without using your support hand to hit the ping-pong paddle. This allows the shooter to make a reload more efficiently and quickly, and due to the lack of movement. Not bad for a small addition.
I have read some recent reviews on how it works, how it feels, and why I should get it. I found very positive feedback. I was finally sold on the idea when I used a B.A.D Lever on a friends AR, so I decided to purchase one and see how it worked for me. Why doesn’t this come with every stock AR-15?! Who thought that adding on to the bolt catch could work so well!
The best part is that, even in the trigger guard, it doesn’t interfere with the pull of the trigger. It is super lightweight and gives the gun a very pristine look.
Assembly is simple:
First you put the back plate behind the paddle. Second, place the lever on the paddle so the hex screw can hold both lever and plate. Third, insert screw. Finally, tighten.
Yes, it sounds like the ultimate upgrade that everyone should have or your a loser, but in reality, it just feels more natural for me to release the bolt in the trigger guard, nothing fancy. Some people actually don’t like it. But the best part is that you can still operate the bolt catch as you would without the B.A.D. Lever. I am hooked on the Magpul B.A.D Lever. 5/5 for price, reliability, and cosmetic coolness. This is more of a personal preference review, but I hope this helps!

Agreed.. I love it, makes one handed maniulation of the weapon easier.
I especially like if for 3 gun use and being able to “make safe and show clear” at the end of a stage.
