Recently I aquired a Wilson Combat 16″ Recon upper to match the Wilson Combat lower I have been using with the 6.8 upper (also from Wilson Combat)

It’s worth mentioning the lower has the TTU singlestage I am so impressed with.  Click below to read my Wilson Combat 5.56 Recon review

Specs:

Fluted 16″ stainless barrel with a 1 in 7 twist and 5.56 chamber.

Handguard is the TRIM rifle length model.

I love these handguards, they are lightweight and allow me to put a section of rail where I want it to be.  They also have QR sling sockets on the sides at the front and rear. I also like the smaller OD as it just feels right and is very ergonomic.

I had it finished in TuffCoat OD green, the finish holds up very well as  I have been beating on my 6.8 for 2 years.

The bolt is also coated in NP-3, a hardened finish (Robar’s NP3 finish is an electroless nickel-based finish for steel, stainless steel and aluminum
alloys that co-deposits sub-micron particles of PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), otherwise known as Teflon, with electroless nickel)

Wilson’s ARs are built to the same level of detail as their 1911s, just like you can buy cheaper 1911s than a Wilson, we all know they are not all built to the same.  Attention to the little details means their guns are built tighter and are very accuracte and function flawlessly.

I am shooting sub MOA groups out a variety of ammo with a 4x scope, it shoots 55g Federal steel cased practice ammo as well as PMC 5.56 5.56 right at an inch.  Black Hills match 77g better than that.  It shoots Atlanta Arms 5.56 77g OTM under and inch as well and I have no problem hitting 12″ plates at 500 yards with it.

I run this gun with a 1-4 scope for 3 gun matches and an Aimpoint T1 for home defense.

Seeing as I am trusting my family’s life with it, I can think of no higher compliment to give a firearm.
