Vertx is the tactical brand of Fechheimer, manufacturer of the Flying Cross military and law enforcement uniforms. Designed for the “Operational Athlete” Vertx is preferred kit for several TGR staff writers for its performance and comfort whether at the range or around town.
Texas can be a harsh environment – hot and dusty in the summer, Gulf Coast storms, and the occasional “blue ‘Norther” rolling through dropping the temperature 30 degrees. Vertx performs in all conditions. The pants are designed for a full range of movement and transition easily to different shooting positions.
Operational Athlete
I have worn the following gear and can report that the fit, finish, and comfort of all are outstanding.
Men’s Coldblack Short Sleeve Polo: Nice dressy-casual polo that doesn’t scream “tactical.” The coldblack material reflects up to 80% UV. This is a very comfortable shirt. Includes pen/pencil pocket on sleeve.
Ops PRO Jersey: Looks super-sharp in red/black. Great ready-to-wear jersey for matches. We are having the TGR logo embroided on ours.
Men’s Phantom Ops Short Sleeve Shirt: Great “concealed carry” shirt for wearing around town. Cool polyester/cotton blend is comfortable in the Texas heat.
Men’s Original Tactical Pants: The name says it all – exactly what you expect. 98% cotton with 2% spandex for ease of movement. Comfortable yet durable. Stretch waistband and articulated knees. Well thought-out pockets.
Phantom Ops Men’s Tactical Pants: I have a pair of these in black and they are flat-out awesome. You can’t go wrong here.
Kryptek Raptor Belt: If you don’t yet have a good gun belt – get one. The Vertx Krypteck Raptor belt is a unique design featuring the Raptor buckle.
The market is flooded with all kinds of “tactical” clothing and it seems like every day some company is announcing a new product line. Although Vertx itself is a relatively new brand it is owned by Fechheimmer which has been manufacturing uniforms since 1842. If you are looking for a quality alternative to the more hyped brands you should check out Vertx – you will be glad you did.
