Troy Industries is well known for their M4/Ar-15 back-up iron sights and other weapon accessories.  The Troy VTAC BattleRail Alpha is an updated version of their popular Extreme rail series.  The Alpha rail is a free-floating, one piece handguard with a single rail running the top line.  I have installed an 11″ Flat Dark Earth Alpha on my custom 6.8 SPC rifle. The slotted holes disperse heat, lighten the handguard, and provide mounting locations for short rail inserts.  Personally, I have no need for a massive quad-rail and have no idea what all I would hang off of it.  I usually run just a small Steamlight TLR-1 mounted forward left and, occasionally, a Contour HD camera.

The handguard is very comfortable and lightweight.  The small rail segments are simple to attach (although it is best to do so before mounting the BattleRail to the barrel nut).  Big props to Troy for designing the VTAC BattleRail Alpha to mount to a standard mil-spec barrel nut rather than a proprietary nut as with the Extreme.  The mounting system is fast, easy, and at least so far rock-solid.
