I have always liked Glocks for their reliability but they just never felt right to me.

I find myself looking down the top of the slide when bring the gun up and out onto the target.  Of course, this is probably due to me shooting 1911s for a long time and the grip angle is a little different.  Not a show stopper, and I can certainly practice enough with a Glock to get proficient with it.

The Gen 4 doesn’t change the grip angle but does change the grip shape a bit and I find that I shoot it a little better instinctively.  It’s not a target pistol of course and is best suited for self defense or concealed carry.  For this role, I think the G19 is arguably the best overall defensive handgun on the market.  High capacity 9mm, light, small enough to be easy to conceal but not so little it’s hard to control.

The Gen 4 has the new dual spring recoil setup and it seems to shoot just a little flatter (less muzzle flip) than my Gen 3.

Mine has ran flawlessly with all sorts of ammo and I trust it 100%

Is it better than a Gen 3?  For me, it’s marginally a better pointer and fits my hand just a little better, so, I would say it’s a tad more ergonomic and that to me means it’s better.

Now, if you have a Gen 3 and are happy with it I wouldn’t think there’s a compelling reason to upgrade unless you just got to have the latest version..
