The Fenix PD36 TAC Flashlight is a unique light featuring a mechanical switch (Duty-Lock-Tactical) and up to 3000 lumens. The unique functionality of the mechanical lock is what really sets this high quality light apart from the competition.
Click the switch over to Tactical. Tapping the tail switch provides a momentary 2000 lumens. A full press results in a tactile click into constant on. Longer press results in a blinding 2000 lumen strobe to assist in self-defense situations.
Click over to Duty. This is the setting for everyday use. The tail switch cycles through the power outputs from an incredible 3000 lumen Turbo blast down to a low 30 lumens suitable for close-up work. Again, tap for a quick on/off, press into the click for constant on, hold in a second for strobe. In Duty mode, the strobe is 2000 lumens.
The lock is nice to ensure the light is off and not draining battery when bouncing around in your pocket or bag. The lock also serves another purpose in that you can lock in the light output when in use. For example, if you are in Duty / Low you can turn the mechanical switch to Lock and it will stay (lit) in that mode until you disable it.
This is a well built flashlight. It feels solid in hand and all of the controls present a positive tactile feel. It is IP68 waterproof rated which translates into surviving 6.5′ for thirty minutes. The light can also withstand a 1.5 meter drop onto hard surface.
