McMillan Game Hunter stock for the Tikka T3

With the growing popularity of the Tikkas the options for aftermarket upgrades has definitely been increasing over the last few years. I have owned a number of Tikkas and they have all been shooters. The guns just shoot, out of the box. Arguably the most consistently “good” factory rifles. They have a great barrel (same as the more expensive Sakos) and a great trigger that can be set down to 2 lbs with no creep whatsoever and the proverbial “glass rod break”. The common complaint is the cheap feeling stocks, it’s hard to argue with the end results of course given how well they shoot and they do so at a very reasonable price point. But, once you have used a McMillan stock, it’s hard to accept anything else.

5 Best Gun Cleaning Mats to look for 2018

Tipton glun cleaning mat

Quite a number of people overlook the importance of having a gun cleaning mat. It doesn’t matter how careful you are when cleaning your gun, there are high chances of spills and splashes. This is why it is necessary to have a gun cleaning mat that will protect your table or work surface from harsh chemicals and other solvents. On top of that, they also protect your gun from scratches especially if you are moving your weapon around a hard surface.

Gun cleaning mats are specifically designed for gun cleaning and hence feature a leakproof material such that no oil can leak through the mat. The mats are available in different sizes and thicknesses so you can select the one that you like and meets your need. I have researched and hereby provide you with 5 best gun cleaning mats to look for in 2018. They are great mats with soft padded surfaces and nonslip backing that keeps the gun in place.

Silencer Shop Authority: Daniel Defense WAVE 30 cal silencer review

Today we take a look at the new Daniel Defense WAVE 30 calibler silencer.  This is a new design using 3d printing for a one piece baffle/tube made out of Inconel.  No welds!  Very cutting edge design and manufacturing, I would love to see it being made.  It also features a patent pending brake quick detach that is guaranteed not to get carbon build up.  The silencer and brake are made up of a mix of a nickel based “super alloy”, stainless steel and titanium that is all cerakoted.  It has a reinforced blast chamber and is full auto rated.  We tested this silencer on two different rifles and got video of a guy at our hunting property shooting suppressed for the first time.  His reaction was awesome!

StunMaster Stun Guns

Stun Master stun guns are powerful and inexpensive. One of the most popular stun guns in the world because of their High stopping power and overall effectiveness. All these devices have safety switches and wrist straps. This Self Defense weapon will aid you in yourself defense yet it is non-lethal and will cause no permanent damage.

The Stun Master Stun Guns will give you powerful protection for you and your loved ones.

Tips on Using the Stun Master Stun Guns

The recommended stun device self-defense technique is fairly simple; drive the device into the upper shoulder, stomach, groin area, or other sort of muscle area such as the neck or kidney, and then pull the trigger.

1) A short burst of 1/4 second duration will startle an attacker, cause minor muscle contractions, and have a repelling effect.

2) A moderate length blast of 1 to 4 seconds can cause an attacker to fall to the ground.

3) This can immobilize an attacker, causing disorientation and loss of balance. Attacker may fall to the ground, weak or dazed for some minutes afterwards.

As a general rule, a one-half second contact will repel and startle the attacker, giving some pain and muscle contraction. One to two seconds will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. Over three seconds will cause loss of balance and muscle control, mental confusion and disorientation.

The StunMaster come in 2 varieties…the 100,000-300,000 volt version and the 625,000 volts version, also known as “The Stun Monster”

Fail Zero 6.8 SPC bolt carrier group and drop in trigger

Fail Zero BCG and trigger

I am a big fan of coated bolt carrier groups and good triggers for ARs.  Do you absolutely need a coated BCG? Well, no, of course not, but I much prefer them to standard ones.  They simply run better in my experience, they require less lubrication and clean up easier.  Same thing with triggers.  A standard mil spec trigger “works”, they make the gun go bang.  Having said that, none of my ARs have a mil spec trigger.  I grew up shooting bolt action hunting rifles with 2lb triggers that broke like a glass rod with zero creep.

How to get involved in Competition Pistol Shooting

There is a misconception with some folks that gun owners only have guns for self-defense or hunting. But that is not true!

A lot of folks who own guns, have them because they like to compete in shooting sports. These sports might not have the same media exposure as golf, baseball or football, but it is still extremely popular and has a lot of benefits for competitors.

There are various types of shooting sports you can compete in, depending on what kind of weapon you want to use. You can decide to compete in rifle shooting sports, shotgun shooting sports, air rifle shooting sports or pistol shooting sports. You can even use multiple guns in shooting sports such as 3-gun shooting, where you typically use a rifle, a pistol and a shotgun.

As pistols are the most common weapon of choice and likely to be the easiest shooting sport to get involved in, we will look into how you can get started in competitive pistol shooting.Pistol

I must admit my mistake……….completely forgot about leaving a review here. Should have done it a while back, but better late than never, right?

22 Nosler!

Nosler continues to push the envelope with the introduction of the Nosler 22.  Any new cartridge is met with some amount of skepticism but Nosler brings a certain measure of respect and accomplishment to the argument.  It is interesting that Midway already has complete AR uppers available and in stock for less than $500.  I’m a big fan of the 22-250 so that keyword caught my eye.  The press release follows.

What do you think?  Does the world need another AR-15 cartridge?

Springfield XD Tactical turned 460 Rowland Review

By: Cary Kieffer

My favorite pistol the XD Tactical, meets my favorite cartridge, the 460 Rowland. This is it for me, I don’t have, nor can I think of anything I like more than this combination. Until somebody invents me a normal sized, striker fired semi-auto in at least 454 Casull…This is it.

10.5 Bergara 300 Blackout Barrel Review

By: Cary Kieffer

At Christmas time I bought a 10.5 Bergara 300 Blackout barrel from Jestice Arms. I had seen some nice groups from a Bergara 5.56 rifle barrel so when I wanted to do a 300 Blackout pistol as economically as possible I decided to try the Bergara barrel. I bought it on sale and to my door it was $90, that is pretty “economical”. Now that the weather has broken I’ve finally been getting outside to try it out.

The Griffin Armament RECCE 5 MOD 3

Once you shoot suppressed, there really is no other way to shoot.  Anyone who shoots, especially AR platform rifles, knows that a short time of shooting can lead to days of ringing in ones ears.  Que, the RECCE 5 by Griffin Armament.
