Mid-Evil Industries 360 VFG

Mid-Evil 360 VFG

The Mid-Evil Industries 360 Vertical Fore Grip is an innovative design that allows the operator to position the VFG to their personal preference.  The fore grip is constructed in two sections.  To unlock and re-position, you simply hold section one (the top piece), loosen section two, set it however you like, and then lock it in position.  No tools required.

The version I have attaches to a standard picatinny rail section.  There are also M-LOK and Keymod versions.

22 Nosler!

Nosler continues to push the envelope with the introduction of the Nosler 22.  Any new cartridge is met with some amount of skepticism but Nosler brings a certain measure of respect and accomplishment to the argument.  It is interesting that Midway already has complete AR uppers available and in stock for less than $500.  I’m a big fan of the 22-250 so that keyword caught my eye.  The press release follows.

What do you think?  Does the world need another AR-15 cartridge?

FailZero EXO Bolt Carrier Group

FailZero EXO

Anyone who runs a suppressed semi-automatic gun like an AR-15 knows just how dirty the chamber gets.  Filthy, in fact.  A suppressor works by slowing down the gas through a series of internal baffles.  The slower the gas is released the quieter the perceived sound.  However, this tends to raise the pressure levels and force more of the dirty gas – containing unburned powder, dirt, oil, and carbon – back into the chamber.  An adjustable gas block certainly helps but there is no way getting around it – a suppressed gun is a dirty gun.  And few us like to clean guns especially if you have to clean or lube during a range session or match.

Trijicon AccuPoint 1-6X24 Circle-Cross

Trijicon AccuPoint 1-6X24

Trijicon, best known for the legendary ACOG, has released a new lineup of AccuPoint and AccuPower rifle scopes.  The most intriguing of the new products is the AccuPoint 1-6 model – something many avid shooters have been requesting for some time now.  This is a crowded market segment these days but Trijicon’s reputation for building some of the finest optics in the world was motivation enough to request an early production scope for review.  The AccuPoint 1-6X24 is built on a 30mm tube and is available in six different reticles including the familiar Triangle Post and German #4.

ADM AD-RECON Scope Mount

AD-RECON

American Defense Manufacturing (ADM) scope mounts have been a personal favorite of TGR staff writers for many years – and with good reason.  ADM mounts are of the highest quality, many feature the rock-solid Quick Detach Auto Lock Lever system, and they are designed and built in the USA.  Top off a great product with fantastic customer service and you can see why ADM mounts are so popular.  I recently required a 30mm scope mount for a new Trijicon AccuPoint and the AD-RECON was my choice of mounting system.

LaserLyte Center Mass CM-K15B

LaserLyte Center Mass

The LaserLyte Center Mass weapon sight allows the shooter to choose between a traditional single dot or the very cool Center Mass pattern.  The Center Mass option projects a green center dot plus a ring of eight green dots for fast target acquisition.  The dot pattern grows in size at approximately one inch per yard of distance.  Like many men, I see a green laser way better than red especially in daylight conditions.  The pattern is changed by removing (or replacing) an attached cap.

Bean Firearms AR-15

Bean Firearms AR-15

Bean Firearms – new AR-15 on the market.

Bean Firearms Company was formed in Utah in 2009 and set about designing a new AR-15.  Pulling from their experience in the aerospace and defense industries, their goal was to produce one of the best performing rifles in the world.  Did they succeed?  Stay tuned for the Tactical Gun Review range test to find out!  In the meantime, here are the specs and photos.

Aimpoint PRO

Red dots are an almost immediate upgrade for anyone who owns a firearm because they are extremely simple and highly effective. What the hunter, the sport shooter, our military, and law enforcement agents are looking for is a cost effective, low maintenance red dot sight that will handle the most extreme conditions to accomplish the most demanding missions. They don’t want another thing to worry about when operating their weapon, they just want to point and shoot. The Aimpoint PRO goes above and beyond just the point and shoot factor, exceeding all expectations by operating reliably and effectively in almost any condition.

Geissele SSA-E Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced AR-15 Trigger

Geissele SSA-E

The great thing about an AR-15 is how modular the components are.  I recently upgraded my 6.8 SPC II from the stock Rock River Arms National Match trigger to the Geissele Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced trigger.  Bill Geissele was kind enough to send me his SSA-E trigger for evaluation (along with a cool Geissele Automatics t-shirt).

Troy VTAC BattleRail Alpha – 11″

Troy/VTAC Alpha BattleRail

Troy Industries is well known for their M4/Ar-15 back-up iron sights and other weapon accessories.  The Troy VTAC BattleRail Alpha is an updated version of their popular Extreme rail series.  The Alpha rail is a free-floating, one piece handguard with a single rail running the top line.  I have installed an 11″ Flat Dark Earth Alpha on my custom 6.8 SPC rifle.

Condor Rapid Assault Chest Rig

Everyone is trying to find a good way to carry and use their gear as effectively on the range, on the field, or for bugging-out. The biggest issues with this dilemma are weight distribution of gear and the ability to add on to the existing rig or vest, making it more personal for the end user and giving them greater sense of control. Being a smaller guy, lugging around bigger vest with lots of equipment isn’t the most ideal situation for me, so I decided to give the Condor Rapid Assault Chest Rig a chance. I’m glad I did.

5.56 Giveaway For Shooters

Feed Your Guns and Feed Yourself

AmmoForSale.com is giving away 300 rounds of PMC X-Tac 5.56 ammunition  along with a new 22-inch Weber grill to help one shooter celebrate Independence Day.

PMC X-Tac is loaded to NATO specifications and is not intended for you use in a .223 Remington rifle but the grill is engineered to Weber specifications and will cook-up just about anything you want to put on it. However, we’d advise you limit the grill’s use to meat products. Specifically, we’ve found the grill to be most effective when loaded with bacon-wrapped meats. Shooters can enter at the AFS Facebook page with no purchase necessary.
